When Evan, a young entrepreneur, acquired his childhood favorite bakery, Old Mill Bread Co., he saw an opportunity to transform this Knoxville staple into a cool, trendy destination while honoring its cherished heritage. Our challenge was to refresh the brand in a way that would attract a younger, style-conscious crowd without alienating long-time loyal customers.

Branding, Packaging + Illustration

At the heart of Old Mill Bread Co.'s visual rebrand was the modernization of their iconic mill illustration. We preserved the character and charm of the original design while giving it a sleek, contemporary twist. The updated illustration features clean lines and a minimalist approach, rendering the mill in a style that's both Instagram-worthy and respectful of the bakery's history.

Website Design & Copy

The Old Mill Bread Co. website was designed to be as fresh and inviting as the bakery itself. We created a user-friendly interface that allows customers to easily order lunch, shop for baked goods online, and learn about the bakery's story and offerings. The homepage features mouth-watering imagery of artisanal breads and trendy cafe dishes, immediately setting the tone for a contemporary dining experience.

We conducted an in-person content shoot in Knoxville, capturing authentic imagery of the bakery's products, processes, and personality for use across various platforms. Additionally, we developed a comprehensive content strategy and planned the first three months of content, ensuring Old Mill Bread Co. had the tools and direction to maintain a strong, consistent brand presence as they moved forward with their new identity.

We developed an extensive range of collateral including a redesigned menu, custom magnet calendar featuring local college football games, stylish tote bags, deli paper, takeout bags, grocery store signs, and bread type labels. Each piece reinforces the bakery's unique blend of tradition and trendiness, creating a cohesive brand experience across all customer touchpoints.
